Before the famous three-goalie rotation, we used to rely on morning practices or even the day before the games to determine who would be the number one goalie. Why? Because the starting goalie has a unique routine, and usually, they are not present on the day of the game.

However, this is not the case for Samuel Montembeault. While the Canadiens held an optional practice this morning, he was on the ice, even though he will be in the net tonight.

“It may seem ordinary, but it was an optional practice this morning, and Sam Montembeault, starting tonight, could have easily chosen the sleep option.

Instead, he chose the work option.

Success is in the small details.

1st in the NHL (5 vs. 5) for goals-against average.”

– Anthony Martineau

With the effort he puts into his work, it’s not surprising to see him have so much success. Samuel has often been described as a fighter, and this is another proof, especially considering that the vast majority of NHL goalies rest on game days.

There is truly something special about Samuel, and we can be sure that he won’t rest on his contract. He will work even harder.
