We were discussing this morning: Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Antti Raanta could end up with the Laval Rocket.

The Canes don’t have an affiliated club in the American Hockey League (AHL) this year, meaning players can be loaned to any AHL team in the event of demotion.

Antti Raanta cleared waivers without being claimed, so he could very well land with an AHL team. Given the Rocket’s goaltending struggles, it’s a logical destination for him.

The potentially strained relationship between the Canadiens and Hurricanes, stemming from the offer sheets on Sebastian Aho and Jesperi Kotkaniemi, could work against the Habs. However, with changes in the Canadiens’ management since then, it’s a perfect time to bury the hatchet.

“Could he now be loaned to the Laval Rocket? It would be a good thing for both organizations!”
